Dr. Kolkin is a native of New York, NY. He earned his doctorate in
medicine from Emory University in 1977, followed by an internship
and residency at the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem,
NC. He completed his formal training in 1982 with a hand surgery fellowship
at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He began private practice
in Lexington, KY, and moved to North Carolina in 1991 as a founding
member of the Raleigh Hand Center. Dr. Kolkin is a fellow of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society
for Surgery of the Hand. He is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery
with additional certification in hand and upper extremity surgery.
He is married, with two children. His hobbies include music, art,
biking, running, and swimming.
